Chicago is not often at the top of people’s minds when they decide to visit.  Surprisingly, Chicago has many of the nation’s top attractions right here in the Windy City.  Besides being a bustling city and the second home to Wall Street with its rapidly growing financial district, Chicago is also where you will find:

The Sears Towers
The Hancock Observatory
Navy Pier and Navy Pier Imax Theatre
Six Flags Great America
Lincoln Park Zoo
Wrigley Field
Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio
The Field Museum
Millennium Park
And so much more!

Chicago is located in mid-west Illinois on the banks of Lake Michigan.  The lakefront has over 29 miles of beaches and trails for outdoor activities.  Chicago has two airports, O’Hare International and Chicago Midway providing easy access in and out of the city from virtually anywhere in the world.  Chicago’s main area is downtown, comprising of the city’s main retail centers, business and cultural centers.  Lake Michigan lies along the eastern border of the city and is home to the Navy Pier, Chicago’s most visited tourist attraction.  Neighborhoods stretch north and south from downtown, with easy access to tour many historical districts by foot, bus, or car.

Chicago is also famous for the way it has taken the culinary arts to a place no other city has been able to.  And although it is known as a steak city, Chicago is the birthplace of creations such as Chicago-style pizza and the Chicago-style hot dog – smothered in mustard, relish, and hot peppers.  You can find fine cuisine ranging from the perfectly grilled steaks at Chicago Prime Steakhouse to the delightful seafood with a waterfront view at the Bubba Gump Shrimp Company inspired by the movie “Forrest Gump”.

Among Chicago’s best known attractions are its art galleries and museums.  The Chicago Art Institute boasts more than 300,000 works of art, including 33 by Monet.  The Museum Campus, Adler Planetarium and Astronomy hosts “Far Out Fridays”  for experiencing celestial events.  The most complete tyrannosaurus fossil ever found is located at the Field Museum.  The Shedd Aquarium is the world’s largest indoor aquarium.  The Museum of Science and Industry is famous for its hands-on exhibits.  Additionally, Chicago has an amazing music and theatre with many shows produced right here in the city before taking to the road.
